Authentic Italy: A Yoga, Food, & Wine Experience
September 23-30, 2017
Join us for an unforgettable experience in beautiful central Italy. This 7-day retreat (September 23-30, 2017) is designed to help you unplug, unwind, and fully immerse yourself in "la dolce vita." We'll practice daily yoga and meditation, soak up beautiful art and scenery, visit stunning hill towns in Umbria and Tuscany, & indulge in delicious food and wine. Set just outside of Assisi, our hotel is set in a restored fortress dating form 1340. The hotel is a quiet oasis located on a 20-acre park and features a top-of-the-line spa, sauna, and pool.

Finding Balance: A Yoga and Self-Care Day Retreat
Sunday, January 21, 2018 10-4pm, Monrovia Canyon Park
Every once in a while, we need to take a step back, slow down, and give ourselves the opportunity to recharge. Our day retreat provides a space for rest and rejuvenation in beautiful Monrovia Canyon Park. Set in a cozy cabin surrounded by nature, you’ll feel like you are miles away from Los Angeles, with plenty of tall trees, streams, wildlife, and a nearby waterfall to explore.
We will start our day with a morning practice that includes yoga, breath work, mantra, and meditation, followed by a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, we will study a yogic concept called “The Ten Bodies”, which outlines ten areas of consciousness, including:
1. Soul Body
2. Negative Mind
3. Positive Mind
4. Neutral Mind
5. Physical Body
8. Pranic Body
9. Subtle Body
10. Radiant Body
Through lecture, meditation, and various exercises, we will explore each of these concepts, which can provide a great road map for self exploration and self awareness. After our talk, we will close the day with a relaxing Yoga Nidra (guided meditation) session.

I have experienced two retreats in Italy and several in California organized and led by Lauren Maher. These retreats were remarkable for a number of reasons. Lauren's daily yoga sessions were geared to meet the needs of those present in subtle ways, so that participants with various levels of prior experience with yoga (or none at all) felt comfortable, refreshed and invigorated. Each day held time for private relaxation but each day also had what I might call “curated” experiences with the culture and food of the region. A day might include visits to glorious hill towns, perhaps including a special meal in a historic site . Another day might include a truffle hunt or a wine tasting in a rural vineyard. An evening might include singing by the fire after a cooking class. In an unfamiliar place, it is comforting to know that you’re in the hands of a pro who will have anticipated what’s needed to get the most out of the overall experience. Since the group along on a retreat is always going to be reasonably small, it is also a good opportunity to meet a few new people and explore shared interests. At the same time, there is total flexibility to have private time and savor inward reflections. Lauren herself is open-hearted , accepting, knowledgeable, and savvy.
