What is Reiki?
Reiki is a simple and safe Japanese hands-on healing technique that helps relieve stress and can encourage healing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. “Rei” means “universal soul or spirit”, and “Ki” means “energy”. Put together, the two words mean “universal life force energy”.
What to expect in a Reiki session:
During a healing, one lies fully clothed on a massage table (or the floor), having removed shoes only. The Reiki practitioner lightly places his or her hands in a series of positions throughout the body in order to transmit Reiki energy. The recipient of healing will often feel heat or warmth from the practitioner’s hands and feel deeply relaxed.
A Reiki session typically lasts one hour, with half the time being spent on the front of the person’s body and the other half on the back of the body. Many recipients of Reiki healing report greater feelings of well-being, health and awareness after their treatments.
I am a certified Reiki master who has been practicing Reiki since 2011. I am grateful to Alexandra Juliani at the American Reiki Academy and with Timothy R. Campbell at the Chiropractic Center for Healing for training me in this simple but powerful healing modality.
